The Olympic Hall of Fame and Museum opened in 1988 as a legacy of the XV Olympic Winter Games in Calgary. Developed as a tribute to the dedication, sacrifices and achievements of Canadas Winter Olympians, it is a celebration of the Olympic Spirit and appeals to visitors from all over the world.
The excitement of the Winter Olympics, especially the best ever games in Calgary, returns during the excellent video presentations in the theater. The Olympic Hall of Fame has one of the most extensive collections of Olympic artifacts in the world, including an array of torches collected from several Olympic host cities. The Olympic Timeline names every medal winner since the first Winter Olympics in 1924. The second-floor gallery hosts a variety of changing exhibits exploring many themes from the history of bobsledding to the Olympic Centennial. On the third floor is the tribute to all of Canadas Winter Olympic medal winners.
The Olympic Hall of Fame is ideally located at Canada Olympic Park, the most active site of Olympic competition in 1988 and now host to numerous world cup and world championship events. The museum receives over 60,000 visitors annually.
