This pioneer village feature restored structural artifactual and photographic evidence of the settlement period west of Peace River in particular the 1920's to the 1940.
The Lac Cardinal Pioneer Village Museum Society was formed in 1988. A 20 acre site ws selected.
Work began in 1990, with relocating the homes of Wilcox, Mowry, later the Olson, McKie, the Strong Creek Hall, MD office, cook shack, Hasell School, Church, pump house and administration building. Some buildings are replicas such as the general store, blacksmith shop, and log barn which were built with lumber and shingles produced from 1920s saw mill and a 100 year old shingle mill on site. All the buildings have working artifacts pertaining to 1920-40s.
The many hours put into the village have been all volunteer time for the benefit of the present and future generations.
Located at: Lac Cardinal (also known as Bear Lake), next to Queen Elizabeth Park.
