The Edmonton Space & Science Centre examines the world and beyond through a range of sight and sound experiences. The Margaret Zeidler Star Theatre, Canada's largest planetarium dome, presents a variety of multimedia productions. Through the projection capabilities of the planetarium, you are placed in the centre of panoramic landscapes, transported through the stars or surrounded by choreographed images.
Laser Music shows let you experience laser light technology at its musical best. Sit back and enjoy a state-of-the-art, 17,000-watt sound system and be dazzled by the colours and graphics only a laser can produce. A variety of Laser Music shows are presented during the summer, featuring some of the top musical artists.
Western Canada's first IMAX® Theatre presents a film format ten times larger than normal 35 mm motion pictures. The gigantic four-storey-tall screen, combined with a digital audio system driven by 4,200 watts of power, thrills viewers with the feeling of actually being there.
The Edmonton Space & Science Centre has over 1,800 sq. metres (19,400 sq. ft.) of gallery space. The beautiful North Gallery features traveling exhibitions and is home to Forensics: the Science of Whodunit, the only permanent exhibit of its kind in Canada. DiscoveryLand for children aged 2-8, where curiosity will lead to discovery. Explore WaterWorks, Construction Zone, Discovery Den, Potter's Corner and more. The Universe Gallery is dedicated to space and our solar system. Explore the cyberworld in the state-of-the-art Dow Computer Lab. Talk with people from all over the globe in the fully-equipped Amateur Ham Radio Station. Examine the skies in the Observatory with four Meade/Celestron telescopes. The Observatory plays a major role in many astronomical events and is free to all visitors. At the Challenger Learning Centre you can become an astronaut and go on a simulated mission into outer space. You'll need at least two hours to explore and enjoy the Edmonton Space & Science Centre, the perfect place to discover and experience the wonders that our universe has to offer.
