Fall head over wheels in love with the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin. The spirit of the machine comes alive through transportation, aviation, agriculture, and industry. Experience first-hand how technology changed Albertans lives from the 1890s to the 1950s. More than 100 major artifacts are on display in the Exhibition Hall. Play the Factory Assembly Line Game in the 1911 car factory, learn how the 1920s grain elevator is a giant machine, join in Thats RAM Service at the 1930s gas station, and flash back to the 1950s as you watch period movies in the drive-in theatre. Enjoy hands-on displays, audio-visual shows, artifact demonstrations, interpreter-led programs and special events throughout the year.
The museum features an outstanding collection of more than 5,000 artifacts, both static and operating. During the summer, the hiss of a steam tractor, the roar of an airplane, and the purr of a vintage sedan evoke the spirit and speed of change on the prairies. Ride in one of the vintage cars, thrill to a 1930s midway ride or experience the excitement of flying in one of the restored biplanes. Summer visitors can also tour the warehouse, where more than 1,400 vehicles are housed.
The Reynolds-Alberta Museum operates a state-of-the-art restoration shop and conservation lab where visitors can watch the technicians at work.
The library has more than 1,800 publications and 18,000 trade literature items, including dealer catalogues and repair manuals. This is believed to be the largest public collection of its kind in Canada.
The spacious giftshop offers a wide selection of books, models and prints relating to vintage autos, farm equipment and aircraft. Choose stationery, jewellery, reproduction tin ware, or crockery reminiscent of life on the farm. No visit is complete without a souvenir featuring the museums logo.
Canadas Aviation Hall of Fame is an on-site partner with the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. The contributions of Canadas flying elite are presented through biographical panels, records and flight memorabilia. Together with vintage aircraft on loan from the Reynolds Aviation Museum, this is one of the most significant aeronautical exhibits in the country.
