The town of Lacombe is located in the heart of Albertas parkland. With a population of just under 8,000, Lacombe offers many of the benefits of a larger centre but retains a small-town feel.
The downtown has one of the best collections of Edwardian brick buildings in the province. They have been lovingly restored through the Alberta Main Street Program, and offer a pleasant area in which to shop, stroll or sightsee.
Michener house - the birthplace of Roland Michener, Canadas Governor-General from 1967 to 1974Ðis a must-see. Another aspect of Lacombes architectural legacy is the commercial buildings, which date from 1900 to 1930, and a number of beautiful homes built before the First World War.
