The Leighton Foundation was established in 1974 by Barbara Leighton in memory of her husband, artist A.C. Leighton. Since then, the Foundation has cultivated art appreciation through its property, art and artifact collections, exhibits, and diverse educational and artistic programs. Both prominent and promising Canadian artists are represented.
The Art Gallery and Museum is in the house Leighton designed himself, located on 80 acres (32 ha), with a panoramic view of the Rockies. Art shows and sales, special events and workshops are held throughout the year.
