Vegreville Main Street

Vegreville is located 100 kilometres (62 miles) east of Edmonton. Being just an hour’s drive from the provincial capital, Vegreville offers the best of both worlds - small-town atmosphere with big-city spirit.

With a population of 5,100, this agriculture-based community is rich in cultural heritage, tradition and history. Immigrants from eastern Canada, the U.S., the British Isles and central Europe settled in the early 1900s. These hardy folk were attracted by the farmland available. Many of the original homesteading families are still in the area, and their ethnic diversity makes Vegreville a truly Canadian community.

Today, Vegreville’s vibrant main street includes a variety of stores and professional offices. It has one of the highest concentrations of historic buildings in rural Alberta. Twenty-four of them are 50 years or older. Many of these have been restored by the Alberta Main Street Program and the Town of Vegreville.

When traveling on the Yellowhead Highway, take some time to visit Vegreville’s Main Street.

Office open weekdays 9-5. 4829-50 Street, Vegreville. .
