Those who recall childhood memories of summer at the lake remember the key elements of sun, sand and adventure. Whitney Lakes Provincial Park is
that kind of place. Most visit Whitney Lakes for its white sand beaches and water-based activities. The beaches are dotted with children and sand castles on just about any sunny afternoon. Over 200 well-serviced campsites-all within walking distance of the lake-provide a natural and relaxing getaway for all. Nature trails ramble through stands of jack pine and spruce near Whitney and Ross Lakes, while others skirt the shores of Laurier and Borden Lakes.
Its a location steeped in history. With land formations sculpted thousands of years ago by retreating glaciers, the park has been described as a time capsule from the ice age. Whitney is also touched by the more recent past. The historic Carlton Trail passes the parks southern edge, reaching across time to such legendary figures as Anthony Henday and David Thompson who once traveled this area.
Marshes and meadows, forests and lakes, aspen groves and willow thickets-Whitney Lakes Provincial Park is a spot just waiting to create those snapshot memories of summer.
