Lac La Biche Mission

The birthplace of the Metis people of Alberta. The Mission offers a rich history of Alberta including the first commercial wheat grown in Western Canada, the first print press, running power sawmill, and one of the first flour mills in Alberta.

The rectory houses a mix of artifacts including saws, birch logs and woodworking tools standing side-by-side with richly sewn robes, and habits. The original carved wooden cross which is 100 years old and sat on the convent roof is also included in the artifact collection. Convenant will be accessible to general public this spring.
