The Bowden Pioneer Museum is located at 2011 20 Avenue, Bowden, Alberta. The operating hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday through July and August. In May, June and September our hours are 1 p.m to 5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The governing authority is the Bowden Historical Society. There is no admission fee though donations are gratefully accepted.
The collection at the museum includes a large photographic collection (many from the early pioneer photographer, Robert Hoare). There are also pioneer items, including household and personal items. Military items from both World Wars are on display at the museum. Some rocks and fossils are part of our displays.
There is a small archives, which contains material of families and events in the community.
The Bowden Pioneer Museum offers the use of its artifacts to high-school multi-media classes as a base for projects. These projects count toward their final marks.
Tours of the museum are offered to the school for any grades, but most used by the elementary grades. The Bowden Pioneer Museum makes its facilities available to the school at any time, but prior arrangements must be made when the museum is closed.
