Remington-Alberta Carriage Centre

Hold your horses! The Remington-Alberta Carriage Centre is acknowledged by international travelers to be one of the world’s premier displays of horse-drawn vehicles. From coaches used by royalty to the stagecoaches of the old west, the collection contains over 250 vehicles. Find out why some experts call this $14 million facility the best in the world.

The main gallery features over 50 vehicles in interpretive vignettes. Sixteen video displays, a fire hall, carriage factory, blacksmith shop, and other attractions also help to illuminate the era. “The Wheels of Change,” a 14-minute film about the carriage industry, is shown in the 85-seat theatre. Over 200 other vehicles can be seen in the
storage gallery.

Watch skilled craftsmen at work on the construction and repair of carriages in the restoration shop, evoking a time when the carriage business was the largest industry in North America. You can also take in equestrian demonstrations and special events.

The Remington Centre is situated on 20 acres of parkland in the beautiful Lee Creek valley, next to a superb civic campground. A carriage bridge connects the centre with Cardston's largest park, which offers picnic facilities, tennis courts, swimming pool, baseball diamond and a running track with a grass infield.

Cardston is in the rolling foothills of the Canadian Rockies, just half an hour from Waterton Lakes and Glacier National Parks.

Open June 1-Labour Day: daily 9-8. Daily 9-5 remainder of the year except Christmas, New Year, and Easter Sunday. Admission is charged. Wheelchair accessible. Cafeteria services. Giftshop. 623 Main Street, Cardston.
