Stretching for 3.2 km (2 miles), this was the longest aqueduct in the world when it opened in the spring of 1915. It was constructed by the Canadian Pacific Railway, and for 65 years carried water to irrigate southeastern Alberta. A landmark in civil engineering, the aqueduct has been designated a National and Provincial Historic Site.
