Grain Academy Museum

The Grain Academy offers exhibits and working models that demonstrate and explain the fascinating and complex process involved in bringing grains from the field to your table. Educational films present the pioneering history and current methods of grain production in Alberta. A computerized model train set depicts the transportation of grain from the prairies through the Rockies to the port of Vancouver.

The working model of a grain elevator is a marvel of early 20th-century technology. It shows how farm trucks are unloaded, how the grain is binned and how rail cars are loaded. Visitors can see the various types of grain grown in Alberta and their uses in providing food for Canadians and people around
the world. Other attractions include a large display
of artifacts and models from the early days of farming in Alberta. Experienced personnel offer guided tours to all visitors.

The Grain Academy Museum is sponsored by the Alberta Wheat Pool.

Open year round: Mon-Fri 10-4. Apr-Sept: Sat noon-4. Admission by donation. Wheelchair accessible. Located on the second floor of the Roundup Centre, Stampede Park, Calgary. .
