Territorial Court House

This 2 1/2 storey brick structure was built in 1902 from designs by David Ewart, Chief Architect for the federal department of Public Works. It is the only building left standing of a series the government of Canada built across the west. The Territorial Government held trials here before Alberta became a province in 1905, and after that this building became the provincial court house. It became Fort Macleod’s Town Office in 1971 when a new court house was built next door. The provincial government designated it a historic site in 1979, and the federal government followed suit the following year. e 234-24 Street, Fort Macleod.
