The E.C. McDonald drug store building was constructed prior to 1920, when the business was bought by Alf B arbour, better known as Doc Barbour, who lived in the leanto at the back of the building. He sold the store in 1934. Joe Brazzoni later also ran it as a drug store. It now serves as a drop-in centre for senior citizens, who make use of the old display
shelves along the walls. The building is a wood frame one storey boomtown front structure. It is unusual in that it has a returned comice, or one that continues around the sides of the building. Above this is a shaped parapet ornamented with enamel tiles at each end. Note the fancy brickwork beneath the comice and also the polychrome tiles on the pilasters flanking the display windows. The original recessed doorway and windows have been modified.
